Flame Maple Set 222 “GUN SHOT”
THIS SET CONTAINS A REAL WWII BULLET CROSS SECTION, AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTOS. THE LOG THAT THESE SETS WERE CUT FROM HAD BEEN SHOT MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THE TREE WAS YOUNG. THE BULLETS REMAINED EMBEDDED IN THE TREE, THE TREE SURVIVED AND CONTINUED TO GROW AROUND THE BULLETS. THE SPALTING SEEN IS A DIRECT RESULT TO THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE BULLETS – SIMILAR TO WHEN WOOD BORING BEETLES ATTACK MAPLE TREES (MANY OTHER SPECIES REACT IN THE SAME WAY) AND IT CAUSES THE AMBROSIA STREAKS. I REMOVED MOST OF THE BULLETS THAT I COULD SEE, BUT THE ONE EMBEDDED IN THIS SET WAS WELL HIDDEN, AND SO WAS SLICED VERY CLEANLY WHEN RESAWING THIS SET! A VERY RARE AND UNIQUE SET!

This flame Maple bookmatched drop top set has nice colours and vivid flame figure. Perfect for any flat top instrument. All bookmatched sets are photographed both natural and whilst sprayed with Naphtha to show true colour and grain patterns.
This material has been carefully air dried for 5 years and then slow kilned for perfect stability. These sets are dry and ready to use.
Jointing service available for an additional fee of £32.50. This will see your set professionally jointed by hand, glued and clamped using Titebond original. If you would like to have your chosen set jointed prior to shipping then please leave a note in the comments box whilst paying for your item. We will then send an PayPal request for the machining fee and joint the set for you. Please note that having your set jointed will cause a delay in shipping of your item by 3 days.
