Exceptional Guitar Building Course at Luthierwood
I’ve just completed the week-long guitar building course at Luthierwood, and it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for a hands-on guitar building course led by a true expert, Luthierwood is the place to go.
John Ambler is incredibly skilled, patient, and passionate about guitar construction. Every step of the build process is explained clearly, from wood selection, body and neck shaping, wiring, finishing and final setup. The small class size means you get plenty of one-to-one guidance, making the course suitable for beginners as well as more experienced builders.
The Luthierwood workshop is professional, welcoming, and fully equipped with high-quality tools and machinery. By the end of the week, I walked away with a beautiful, fully playable custom electric guitar and a deep understanding of how electric guitars are built and set up for optimal tone and playability.
This course is perfectly paced, incredibly rewarding, and truly inspiring. If you’re searching for an electric guitar building course, I can’t recommend Luthierwood highly enough. It exceeded all expectations and was worth every penny.Highly recommended!

I’ve used Luthier Wood to source wood for guitar builds as well doing a course to build a bespoke guitar under John’s expert tuition. The wood John sells never disappoints it’s such great quality and it always arrives well packaged and on time. The guitar building course was exceptional and together we fabricated a
beautiful instrument. I highly recommend Luthier Wood to anyone buying guitar building woods or looking for tutored guitar building.Bill Symonds

Great shop. Picked up all the pieces I was after for my build. John was really helpful, gave me a lot of advice about neck joints and a few other things, really gone the extra mile to help. Highly recommended A+++++

Highly recommended musical instrument grade wood supplier here with incredible quality product and top notch customer service.
Reached out on Instagram of all places, to see if I could get a custom cut ancient redwood top. 3000 year old redwood I might add! John immediately got back to me and worked with all my needs and preferences and we found the perfect piece. Sent me pics through the entire process. It was cut and sent out in days.
Can’t say enough…total pro operation. 10 stars. If you’re on the fence about working with them, reach out. You will not be disappointed.

Luthier Wood is by far my favorite place for exceptional wood choices. Their selection of exotic wood for guitar building is amazing. The customer service is spot on with excellent communication concerning your order’s progress. They don’t bait and switch like some others. You see and pick the actual piece of wood you’ll receive.
The joining option is fantastic and very reasonable in price. All the sets I have had joined are perfect. You can request carve top thickness sets by contacting John through the website email. I live in North Carolina and receive my orders in 3 days from notice of completion. That is 4 days faster than items shipped from the West Coast for approximately the same shipping cost.James P
