7.7mm thick Bookmatched Set, perfect for electric guitar and bass making..
These tops are incredible, and very very special (read below to find out why!).
Amazing quilted figure and lovely colour.
Now for the history! The slabs that yielded these tops were cut from a salvaged tree that naturally fell roughly 120 years ago. This tree was one of the true giants of the Californian coast, and estimated to be 2500-3000 years old!
These tops will make some truly fantastic and unique looking instruments! As these sets were taken from one of the true giants of the Californian Redwoods, the grain is very dense and close together – its next to impossible to count the growth rings without a magnifying glass! So unlike young redwood timber that can be a little soft due to the wide grain, these ancient sets are good and stiff. Perfect for instrument making!
