Description
Mahogany Quarter Sawn Guitar Neck Blank | 787x100x50mm | 035
The slabs that yielded these Mahogany Neck Blanks were very carefully selected for quality. This ensures the very finest cut for instrument necks.
The species is Khaya Ivorensis. This is an African Mahogany well known and widely used for the creation of fine stringed instrument and high-end furniture. This species is pretty much indistinguishable from Honduran Mahogany aesthetically, yet is more appealing to me personally because its a bit lighter in weight. These Mahogany Neck Blanks are absolutely perfect.
This is the highest grade, with super tight growth rings and cut on the quarter (quarter sawn). This ensures maximum rigidity and tonal transfer. Beautiful flowing grain patters with an almost holographic aesthetic, and rich warm colours. These Mahogany neck blanks will carve like a dream and look beautiful, creating tonally stunning instruments.
Suitable for every neck style, our blanks are available in a full range of sizes. From 1-inch options ideal for one-piece Telecaster‑style necks, to thicker blanks designed for deep‑heel models such as Les Pauls. This gives the luthier plenty of material to cut for scarf joints if required. This is useful when building scarf jointed necks as it allows for all important wiggle room when cutting and gluing. The extra thickness is also useful as it can allow the headstock faceplates, control cavity covers etc to be cut from the same piece.
