Obeche is virtually knot free, super lightweight and easy to machine. This makes it a perfect choice for hobbyist Luthiers and professionals alike. It’s pale in colour, with subtle and consistent striping.
As a tropical African hardwood it’s found across a broad section of the continent, consequently it’s picked up a lot of names. You might see it listed as Ayous, Samba, Wawa or the more generic African Whitewood
These blanks can be machined down to a slimmer thickness if required, just add the ‘Thicknessing Service’ item to your basket and leave a note in the comments box telling us what finished thickness you wish the item to be cut to.
